Cake…In a Jar!
I have been trying to taste a new product each week at the Cedar Park Farmer’s Market. I saw a vendor called The Cake Jar and did a double take. They make cake in a jar! This reminded me of last week when Andy and I watched The Jerk on Netflix’s Watch Instantly and there was one part when Navin (Steve Martin) and Marie (Bernadette Stevens) are sitting in his trailer eating pizza in a cup and he was raving, “Oh, this is the best pizza in a cup ever. This guy is unbelievable. He ran the old Cup ‘o Pizza guy out of business. People come from all over to eat this.” Pizza in a cup, cake in a jar, simply genius ideas.
I talked to the lady selling it and she said the chef makes it for Austin Java and Mangia Pizza too. We got the Toffee Mocha which is chocolate cake layered with coffee mousse and Heath toffee pieces. It was like $8 for the Big Jar which is one pint. I almost didn’t buy it because of the price tag but did I already tell you that the big jar is full of cake?
The verdict? It was delicious. Sean ate a few spoons but Zack, well, Zack wanted to devour it.
And afterwards, I had a nice jar too. I don’t think I would get it every week because of the price but then again, cake should be saved for special occasions. I love how you don’t have to worry about transporting it. I can just picture this company competing in those cake building contests they have on Food Network. You know the part when the cooks have to carry their cake over to the judging table hoping it all stays intact? Well, the Cake Jar guy will just come over and slam his cake in a jar down on the table and make all those other fancy cakes wobble and fall apart. Likewise, the next time you are invited to a fancy dinner party, volunteer to bring the dessert and then just slam the cake in a jar on the dinner table and you’ll be the hit of the party. Did I say cake in a jar enough in this post? As for the pizza in a cup, I googled it and found two recipes so yes, this dream can also one day be a reality.

It’s all about a name… Jar sounds homey, while can sounds cheap… That’s why candwich never took off – http://www.markonefoods.com.
Oh my, that sounds delish. What will they think of next?!
