Table Tent

A while back, I made this girly playhouse for the boys using scrap pieces of fabric I had lying around. For the windows, I used thick ribbons, crossed them, and sewed an X to keep them together. This structure is pretty sturdy because I actually broke out the measuring tape for the roof part and made a two inch edge going around the table top. I sewed some long ribbons halfway between the fabrics so I could tie them together in the middle of the table to make it stable but I have not had to use them because it stays in place by itself. The only time that the whole structure moved a lot was when Sean tried to climb out the window and got caught. I wanted to be able to change the fabrics around so I bought some snap-on buttons.

I would not recommend this method because it took a million years to sew these things onto the fabric by hand. I sewed the fabric pieces in a weekend but took two hours everyday for a week to finish these buttons. I think if I was going to do this again, I would use velcro or something easy like that. Another tip is to not make the walls too long because once Zack was able to crawl, he would crawl on it and start pulling the whole thing and I had to hem it up an inch or two.

Oh yeah, one more thing, if you have a baby that’s straight out of the woods crazy like Zack, don’t take time to fold flying cranes using beautiful origami paper and taping them on the ceiling for ambience because they will surely be torn down.
