Things in Texas That I Will Miss #1- HEB
I am in a homeschool mommy group, I know, I don’t plan to homeschool but I have a friend that is an organizer for the group and I signed up for the field trips. Recent trips have included the post office and the fire station. This field trip was to HEB, possibly the greatest supermarket in the United States.
Most people think that HEB stands for “Here Everything’s Better” but au contraire. It stands for H. E. Butt, the youngest son who took over the grocery business from his parents. You can guess why they abbreviated the store name. Anyways, our tour guide gave us HEB crowns and took us around different sections of the store. We went to the grocery section, bakery, seafood and meats, pharmacy, and even the back area where the trucks load and unload and the back of the dairy section to watch them stock the milk.
We ate food samples at each section and at the end received a goodie bag full of HEB goodness such as cookies, balloons, a toothbrush, stickers, etc. Sean’s favorite thing was seeing this giant machine that they feed boxes into and it makes this munching noise and compresses them into a small compact cube. Awesomeness.

Yes, HEB rocks, I stopped missing Trader Joes after a couple of month. I can also wear a Hawaiian shirt to HEB and not be asked how long soy milk lasts.
Yes, but now I can’t wear my red polo shirt.
