Cooperation and Friendship

My friend, Emily, had our playgroup over for a lesson about cooperation and friendship.

The kids cooperated by making trail mix together. Each child received a bag of each ingredient. The bags contained either peanuts, dried cherries, pretzels, raisins, almonds, or dried pineapple. There was a big bowl and each child emptied his/her bag in the bowl while Sean and Jasmine mixed it all up. Even with mixing, Sean and Jasmine used the spoon together to combine the ingredients. We then divided the trail mix and had our snacks.

As for the theme of friendship, all the moms traced their children’s hands and cut them out and labeled them. Here is Jasmine displaying her wreath:

Here is Sean glueing down the hands. I had to move them around to make them more balanced.

Sean has it hanging in his room and he likes to give the hands high 5’s and tries to read their names by looking at the first letters.

In the empty hand, we wrote the word, “Friends” and the date. But as of 11:15 AM today, we need to change out that hand to included a teeny little hand because that’s when Emily gave birth to her daughter, Ellen! Congrats to the family and welcome to our playgroup, little Ellen!
