Shiver me timbers – A Pirate Playdate

Ahoy me hearties! Are you ready for some booty grabbin’, mateys? Then set sail for some swashbucklin’ fun unless you be a scurvy dog!

Today, sisters Jennika and Jillan, led us on a pirate adventure at Pfluger Park. It was easy to spot the kids and adults in our group because most of them were wearing pirate attire. We gathered under the pavillion and they read an interactive pirate book in which the kids had to find pirate booty based on clues. Here is Zack in his pirate hat and swashbuckling shirt listening to the book.

Next, they taught us some “pirate talk” such as saying, “Ahoy!” instead of just “Hello!” to our friends and finishing up with a boisterous pirate song. Finally, it was time to hunt for some treasure! We were given a map, some clues, and a bag to put all of the booty we find on the treasure hunt.

Tree with the number 1 on it – check!

Inside the bag hanging next to the clue is a cardboard treasure chest with plastic golden coins. Each child is suppose to get one coin for his booty bag.

Ring near the swings – check!

House with blue square – check!

And finally, the small table with a treasure chest!

Sean chose this cute monster stamp.

Sean loved the treasure hunt and was talking about each clue on the ride home. This playdate gives me a lot of ideas of activities to do with him at home. It would also make a great pirate themed birthday party. Fun day for my buccaneers.

  1. This looks like so much fun! I am bummed that we had to miss out. Your boys make adorable pirates.
